In an attempt to nab timber smugglers, forest
officials picked a fight at Kabilasa village in southern Sripur VDC in
Mahottari District. 51 cubic feet timber had been confiscated by the officials
but without the success in nabbing the culprits. Meanwhile Indian forest guards
opened fire at a forest near Balaigaun, Bardiya district, on Nepalese culprits who
were engaged in trading timber illegally.
