At a time when several organizations have been asking for proper
investigation into expenditure of funds from conservation projects in Kaziranga
National Park, a fresh allegation has been made on the authorities of the park
of having nexus with poachers and hiding actual figure of rhino mortality, and
refusing media persons to visit the park to take stock of the situation. At the
same time in Nanaokhuti village near Khalingduar Reserve Forest in Assam four
people were killed by elephant. So far 6 wild elephants and 5 people have lost
their lives in the district during 2012.
