Chure region that extends from Ilam in the east to
Kanchanpur in the west has been in peril since long and recently Nepal
government has mentioned the need of adequate national and local efforts to
conserve the area. Timber smuggling, deforestation and excavation of minerals,
sand and boulders are considered to be the major causes of degradation of the
area.
