Locals in Ramechhap district in central Nepal are demanding shares
in the Khimti I hydropower project but the request is not likely to be
implemented. Allocating shares to the locals is relatively a new practice in
hydropower projects in Nepal. According to the
concerned authority, Himal Power, the demand cannot be fulfilled as per the agreement
between Himal power and the government.
