Ottawa, Canada- The Second Annual Biodiversity Awards Gala- Winners Announced



On April 28, ten awards will be presented to Government officials, community organizations and businesses, and extraordinary individuals- each with truly amazing success stories!

Nominations from local youth and students from Notre Dame Catholic, St-Laurent Academy, and Devonshire Public School!

1. “Mr. Panama” Eric Gauthier, Biodiversity youth/ Biodiversity Mentor – Co-nominated by Notre Dame High and St-Laurent Academy/ Nature Photography by a Youth Award

2. Chafic Bouchakra- Biodiversity youth/ Biodiversity Mentor/ Involved in COP 10/ Youth Award for Biodiversity and Conservation

3. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots/ NGO Award  

4. Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo and Paul Goulet/ Ottawa Biodiversity Education Award

5. Durrell Wildlife Conservation trust (UK) - Skype event co-ordinated/ International Biodiversity Award

6. Don Lafontaine, Ph.D. Ottawa Butterfly expert from Agriculture Canada/ Canada Award for Biodiversity

7. Calium Wheaton (St-Laurent Academy Youth and Biodiversity Mentor) St-Laurent Academy Award for Biodiversity

8. David Coates (Convention on Biodiversity- United Nations) Environmental Affairs Officer for Inland Waters/ Water Conservation Award

9. Yasir Naqvi, MPP- Governmental Support Award

10. Tara Lynn Wilson, First Nations youth that educates about the sad story of residential schools, their loss of identity and the loss of their strong connection to the land. Community Award- Nominated by Devonshire Public School
