Phajoding
monks have confirmed increase in bird poaching as birds like Blood Pheasants
and Monal Pheasants are sold for feathers for making arrows. Recently, monks
found a dead Monal Pheasant that was snared by poachers though it is illegal
according to the 1995 Forest and Conservation Act. The Himalayan Monal Pheasant
is the national bird of Nepal and the state bird of Uttarakhand State in India.
