BIRD POACHING HEIGHTENS- BHUTAN



Phajoding monks have confirmed increase in bird poaching as birds like Blood Pheasants and Monal Pheasants are sold for feathers for making arrows. Recently, monks found a dead Monal Pheasant that was snared by poachers though it is illegal according to the 1995 Forest and Conservation Act. The Himalayan Monal Pheasant is the national bird of Nepal and the state bird of Uttarakhand State in India.
