ARSENIC CONFIRMED- NEPAL



According to a survey conducted by the District Drinking Water and Sanitation Sub-Division Water, among 53,000 samples tested from tube-wells,  1,500 were found unsafe for drinking due to excessive contents (50 parts per billion) of arsenic in 19 VDCs in Kanchanpur district, Nepal. Some tube-wells in Laxmipur VDC were found to contain more than 140 parts per billion. Sub-Division Office has distributed 100 sets of bio-sand filters in Laxmipur.
