IMPACT OF TOURISM IN TIBET

Millions of visitors coming to Tibet every year are putting the centuries-old heritage sites under unprecedented threat. Wood and mud structures of the monasteries have suffered damage due to temperature and humidity changes and excessive exposure to flashlights. Tibet which has 4,277 major cultural heritage sites, mostly monasteries, is expecting 10 million visitors this year alone.
