DEFORESTATION AND ENCROACHMENTS- NEPAL

In the past two months, Kanchanpur District, west Nepal, has witnessed a rampant increase in deforestation. During the period, District Forest Office confiscated more than 1000 cubic feet of illegal timber and arrested 19 smugglers. Also, more than 50 families have been evicted from the encroached forestland.
