The grassland subsidy mechanism was found to be successful in enhancing
willingness of the local people to protect the grassland as grass yield has
increased by 10.5 percent from 2010 and 98 per cent of the grassland has been
contracted to the local nomads for the consolidation of environment of the
pastoral area. There has also been improvement
in the livelihood of local people through increased income from agricultural
and animal husbandry.
