OVERLOOKED SPECIES DEMAND ATTENTION- INDIA



While poaching of mega species like tiger and rhino is strictly prohibited, smugglers have started targeting less protected species including bird and reptiles. Tokay gecko lizards (Gekko gecko) face growing threat because of its high demand in some Asian countries and even outside for medicinal values. A mature gecko can easily fetch up to Rs 2 million.
