Chure
hill range is suffering the worst case scenario of land degradation due to
uncontrolled deforestation, soil erosion and mining for sand and stones. As a
result there is gradual decline in soil fertility of Tarai plains and the
possibility of agriculture fields turning onto barren lands. However, clear
policy to secure vulnerable Churia hills is still awaited.
