National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Navy testing in the Pacfic Ocean

VICTORY: A new court ruling finds that the National Marine Fisheries Service acted illegally in approving U.S. Navy testing and training activities in the Pacific Ocean ejus.tc/1G5hjXc
The Navy and Fisheries Service had concluded that, over the plan’s five-year period, the Navy’s use of explosives and sonar could result in thousands of animals suffering death, permanent hearing loss or lung injuries. Millions of others could be left with temporary injuries and disruptions to feeding, breeding, communicating, resting and other essential behaviors. The Navy can both fulfill its training missions and avoid the most severe harm to whales, dolphins, and countless other marine animals by limiting training and testing in biologically sensitive areas.
