In India,
population of tigers had decreased from estimated 50,000 about two centuries ago
to about 3,000 by 2012. But recently, wildlife
biologists have discovered a surprising observation of gene exchange even among
tigers living in extremely fragmented habitats. This gene flow has brought up a
new hope for increment of tiger's population and their conservation in the country.
