NATIVE FISH DISPLACED BY EXOTIC SPECIES- PAKISTAN



According to the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) officials, the native fish species has dropped drastically in Pakistan due to the introduction of exotic species in water bodies. It further added that overfishing, habitat degradation, pollution and introduction of exotic fish species have caused the serious threat on the productivity of natural freshwater bodies. At present, WWF-Pakistan is working to enhance productivity of the water bodies as well as create livelihood options for fishermen communities.
