WETLAND BIRDS IN PERIL- INDIA



Basai wetland of Gurgaon in Shimla, north India known a bird sanctuary is now facing a big problem where the migratory bird count has shown a decline because of habitat loss due to human encroachment. According to the study conducted by Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), 10 important birds are in serious danger of being extinct. Rapid urbanization is considered to be one of the reasons for the decline in bird populations.
