The Alternative is an online magazine on sustainable living and social impact. We
strive to make sustainability an everyday conversation through choices
we can make in our daily lives - from food to travel - in a way that
lends itself to positive social impact.
We are delighted to announce the 'Eco Jam',
a 24-hour Design MakeAThon bringing together students and young working
professionals with varied skills and backgrounds along with design
experts, social organisations, communities and NGOs to create solutions
in a first-in-Bangalore event to create innovative solutions to address
Sustainability challenges.
Powered by Electric Car makers Mahindra Reva, the EcoJam is organised by The Alternative along with Workbench Projects and Sattva Consulting, on November 22-23rd at RBANMS High School, Ulsoor.
Winning
team gets an opportunity to win Rs. 20,000 to bring their solutions to
life by prototyping and piloting with the support of the MakerSpace in
Halasuru, Bangalore and our team of experts and social organisations.
The theme for the MakeAThon is Sustainable Urban Mobility which
could be interesting to a lot of people on this group. The EcoJam is
open to students across disciplines and young working professionals -
anyone interested in working on sustainability solutions.

The EcoJam is taking place at The Green Bazaar, a weekend market that occurs every
alternate month, celebrates earth-friendly living. We curate a market featuring
the best of local organic products, chemical-free wholesome food, upcycled
fashion, handmade native crafts, children’s toys, books, apparel,
waste/water/energy management solutions – a variety of sustainable products
that can power everyday living.
Not just a market, the Green Bazaar is also a thriving space
for conversations and engagement around sustainability through DIY workshops, a
dedicated children’s corner, panel discussions and more.
The
8th Edition of the Green Bazaar: Design Matters brings
together experts in sustainable design, innovative products, ideas and
conversations and a diverse mix of people from artists and entrepreneurs to
conscious consumers and young children, providing a fitting backdrop to the
first EcoJam.
We look forward to seeing a lot of young people at the MakeAThon.
