Air
quality in Kathmandu valley, central Nepal has become inferior due to increasing
air pollution in the city. Kathmandu is the fourth worst polluted city in the
world according to Pollution Index 2014 and lacks ambient air quality due to
which 2.51 million city denizens suffer from major respiratory ailments while
more than 1,600 people die every year. There are only three air monitoring stations
being operational at present in the valley which measures only PM10.
