The
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) enlisted nearly
threatened species Ferruginous pochards have been spotted at Taudaha
Lake in southern Kathmandu, central Nepal. The species was spotted after four
years and has given immense encouragement for bird counting in the area.
However, the conservationists are disappointed due to the lack of interest for
biodiversity conservation among local people and rapid urbanization in the
area.
