The ongoing
first large-scale medicinal plant resources survey of Tibet has studied more
than 3000 species of medicinal plants including over 90 national key herb
species like Panax notoginseng and over 50 unique
featured herb species, such as Saussurea obvallata and Rhizoma
picrorhizae. This is a five year project which aims to examine the species
distribution and resource reserves of the medicinal plants in the region.
