MILLION DOLLARS FOR CONSERVATION- CHINA

China has spent US $713 million to conserve the lakes of Qinghai-Tibet plateau as a result lake area has increased by 245 sq meters and water yield has increased by 18.3 percent compared to that in 2004. The lake is the source to Yellow, Yangtze and Lancang rivers. The investment has funded grazing bans, pasture conservation projects, inhabitant resettlements and artificial weather control.
