A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY IS ALSO SMUGGLER’S DEN

Hirpura Wildlife Sanctuary in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, western Himalaya seems to have become a haven for timber smugglers, which is known for 300 endangered Markhors, the largest wild goat in the world. Only five officials are manning the 340 km2 Sanctuary.
