The green coverage rate of Tibet, southern China has
grown by 10 percent over the past five years due to afforestation and climate
change. The proportion of land covered by vegetation has been eight percent
higher than it was in the year 2000. Likewise, the vegetation has grown denser
in about 214,000 square km, which is about 18.8 percent of Tibet's total
surface area in the past 15 years. General warming due to climate change may
have also contributed to this increase in greenery.
