It started on January
9, 2015- Auger in hand, Grade 6 students from St-Laurent Academy School drilled over 5 inches to get to the water.
Samples were taken to be studied over the next week. Once back at the
school the living microbes were photographed under the microscope.
Gyrosigma sp. is a single-celled diatom that has a shell of "glass". Diatoms
are a major group of algae, and are among the most common types of
phytoplankton.
