The Park Officials had nabbed around 30 people
involved in collecting cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris) illegally in
Wangdue, central Bhutan. More than 100 Dangchups were found collecting in
Lunana previous year. A cordyceps is genus of ascomycete fungi that includes
about 400 species. All the species are endoparasitoids, parasitic mainly on
insects and other arthropods. Until now, the best known species of genus was Cordyceps
sinensis.
