Here is a male quetzal with a nut that he is holding in his beak. Waiting so he can feed it to his chicks. 

A shot I took of a piece bamboo which helps the earth here in Panamá stay firm.
Bamboo is very helpful to avoid corrosion and landslides.

Students On Ice to Antarctica 2012

Over the winter I joined with a group called Students On Ice to travel to Antarctica and learn about biodiversity and the effects of climate change on the polar regions.  I along with 89 other students were incredibly lucky to learn from some of the most famous scientists and get some amazing photographs.

 These are some pictures of orchids that I took in Chiriquí province in Panama. I took them at a wonderful orchid farm called Finca Drácula that was full with so many different specimens from the orchidaceae family.

Northern Saw-whet Owl

When you hear a chatter of birds- different species all working together- there is usually a predator around. In this case 4 chickadees, 2 juncos, 1 cardinal, and 1 goldfinch combined their efforts to scare this owl away. The owl was not impressed.
